Crag features

A limited, but high and impressive outcrop of good rock.

A lower slab is capped by a diagonal overlap above which are continuation pitches. There is a capstone on top of it all to give a final struggle! Routes are listed pitch by pitch as lower sections are often done in their own right and there are several variants as well.

Approach notes

From Cernay drive to the village of Steinbach: admiring the flower pots and ignoring the 'dead-end' signs.

Go through the village and on to a rough road. You will encounter a fork with both routes marked with no access! On closer examination the R fork says no access at night. So go up there. After a few hundred metres there is a gigantic parking area on the R over a couple of little bridges. Park here.

Walk up to the buvette and go steeply up the "Silver Mine' trail for 200m to a L turn. The path is sporadically marked with 'grey feather' signs. Follow the path contouribg gently uphill past a green safety fence to arrive at the junction of two tracks coming downhill. Take the higher one for a few metres to some picnic benches and turn L.

Follow the path to tha flat area at the top of the crag (WW1 emplacements) then follow the steps path down the other side to the foot of the crag.

About 20 mins in total.
