Katalinica Brig is a very small DWS venue but popular since it is very easy to reach by foot within 10mins from the city centre. The wall is not high, with lots of holds, so perfect for beginners.
Possibly the worst setting for DWS I've climbed at, an abandoned building with smashed-in windows behind with trash everywhere, and a concrete extension of the port 30m across the water. Surprisingly though, once you get over this the water is clear and the climbs decent quality (some are a little short and over before they start, others are 2 star worthy). In places the water is only just deep enough and I don't think you'd want to pencil dive. A good place to spend a few hours before getting the bus to the airport (just round the corner). All climbs can be reached via a reasonable traverse in from either end (most are quite enjoyable just climbed straight out of the water, wet and barefoot). To access walk to the opposite end to the popular beach, going towards the ferry port. Pass the big tower then a set of stairs on the left. Keep going and once you emerge from the bushes you are right above the climbs. Michael Bortoluzzi - 10/Sep/18 |
