Crag features

Multiple granite/conglomerate towers and faces in a picturesque wood high above the town of Baden-Baden.  The climbing is a mix of traditional routes, fully bolted sport routes, and hybrid lines where a mix of bolts and traditional gear is used. Year round climbing possible - the crag is fast drying. Most extensive crag in the black forest.

Approach notes

'Park near the old castle and follow the clear trails past the castle into the maze of pinnacles.'

Or park at the eastern end in the free parking area in Ebersteinburg. The crag IS a confusing area. For first timers the Oberer Felsenweg (from either end) leads to the signposted Fellsentreppe path which descends through some of the crags. From here Schönes Wandel and Hohe Wand are easily identified.

Access Advice

Bird restrictions (peregrine falcons/ravens) may apply in spring/summer. Any restrictions are clearly signed on the boards that are passed on the approach.

The Badener Wand bridge may be closed during nesting season (Jan 1st onwards).
