Crag features

In the heart of Kayalar village, the aptly named Kayalar area ("Kayalar" is Turkish for "rocks") is home to two separate bolted crags and contains numerous boulders, with potential to develop many more.  The bolted climbs are short but sweet, ranging from easier (5c) to more challenging (7a+) climbs, with more on the way.  The boulders are varied, with a few roof problems and several face climbs.  The rock is generally very sharp.  Upper Kayalar faces WNW, while Lower Kayalar faces south.

Approach notes

Upper Kayalar, clearly visible from the road as a white buttress high above the village facing west/northwest, is approached by small roads winding up the houses near crag.  Park far enough away from the houses as not to disturb the residents, and hike in from the dirt roads.  Otherwise, use 4wd to get to the top and walk down around the sides of the crag.

Lower Kayalar is on the backside of the rocky outcroppings visible in the middle of the town, west of Upper Kayalar and lower in elevation.  Drive through the main road of the town until you see a small playground up a small driveway on your left.  Park near the playground and continue uphill on a footpath, about 100m.
