Eastern Outcrop On East Ridge Of Northern Sister
This crag appears as a bump on the lower part of the ridge. It faces south-west and catches the evening sun. The crag is slabby and the rock is good, all the routes listed below are worth doing. All the following routes are about 35 meters in length. See topography diagram.
North Side
Has a short summit ridge and some outcrops to the east facing south. To the west and on the north side is a large expanse of steep broken rock, which is very suitable for short problem climbs but has nothing of real note. Except for a high pinnacle near the east end, just detached from the main rocks with a high steep smooth face – ‘Pinnacle Wall’ and the second buttress to the west of ‘Pinnacle Wall’.
South-facing outcrop
A south-facing outcrop just east of the main summit appears likely to give a number of interesting routes.
The outcrop is in the form of a fairly steep cliff about half a mile long, and about 100 feet high at the west end and becoming progressively lower.
About 6 feet in from the west end and (which itself is very steep and should be a good route), there is a fierce looking crack which overhangs slightly. The approach to this is up an easy dirty gully for about 30 feet. The crack may then be avoided by an airy leftward traverse to the end wall or rising traverse to the right on good holds.
