Cape Woolamai is very much a venue for traditional climbers. Maybe not the best place to take those raised indoors on plastic for their first taste of real rock. The climbing is on granite sea cliffs, islets and slender pinnacles. The rock ranges from fine low down to dross high up in some parts. Protection ranges from bomber to shocking. Belays can be tricky. Descents range from easy to more of a challenge than the climbs. Essentially Cape Woolamai rock climbing has a varied menu and can be fun or a nightmare. Whatever lights your candle. If you find yourself exiled to the South East of Victoria, and can't kick the climbing habit, ignore the dismissive comments and get yourself down there. Low tide,  small swell, light winds, cool summer weather, a packed lunch and a sense of adventure. Not bad at all. If nothing else it teaches you how to pull down gently.
