Crag features

Cabanes is a nice secluded area with steep fingery climbing especially on Sector Pelea which is one of the finer crags here along with some of the routes on the right-hand end of Sector Penduso. It is a much quieter than its more popular neighbours in the Hermida Gorge yet some of the routes are just as good like the classic Diedro Rojo on Sector Pelea.

Approach notes

Follow the N-621 3km north of Ojedo and turning towards Pendes in Tama. Goup a long narrow and winding road - the C-884. Leave this rather abruptly by heading straight on at a hairpin signed towards Pendes. The road cuts above the small village of Pendes and after a couple of hairpin bends the road straightens out. On the right is a small car park with a stone spring by some ancient (1000+ year old) chestnut trees this is the parking for the Upper Pendes crags. Carry on along the road until you reach the turning for the village of Pendeso. About 50m further on is some limited parking close to a track that leads up left from the road. Take care not to block access for the farmer. If necessary, continue on to the ample parking for Sector Pelea, which is about 400m further on the right, just before the village of Cabannes.
