Crag features

A steep hillside sector, south facing with a beautiful ambiance especially on the higher section of the ridge. Lots of sun although in mid winter it struggles to rise above the neighbouring hillside for much of the day. Although its a very steep climb from the base of the ridge to the top, the majority of the boulders have reasonable landings especially if you have a couple of mates there to spot you.

Approach notes

Beadon Lane, Newton Abbot, TQ13 9.  There is obvious parking just after where the road crosses the stream between Tottiford Farm and Beadon Farm (room for about 5 or 6 cars).  Walk along the main track to an old turning circle (about 300m). From here you have two options - either walk straight on up the hill for 10-15 minutes (recommended if bouldering at the Upper Boulders) or take the right hand fork to follow the stream on its N side. After about 10 minutes you will come across the obvious Coconut Crab Boulder right on the path. The ridge go upwards from here, the Lower Boulders can all be accessed within 5 minutes of steep scrambling uphill.

To access the boulders from the top of the hill, follow the forest track uphill until it levels off (about 5 minutes after crossing a small steam). The trees on the R of the path here are deciduous, turn right off the track as soon as the coniferous wood starts. Head down the hill for about a minute and duck into the woods on the R - these are the Upper Boulders.

No Access Issues

Be aware of tree felling in the woods
