Scout Crag © Chris Ebbutt

Crag features

Located 300m north of Torre Station in the town of Torquay are some quarried slabs in the woodland beneath the 13th century St. Michael's Chapel. The location is perfectly suited for beginners and groups thanks to the easy access, safe top-outs and slabby low-grade climbs.

Approach notes

Park on Barton Road, enter the woods via the footpath starting opposite the school playing field and turn left. Just before the chapel, drop down the slope on the right into the quarried bay.

Access Advice

Very overgrown and not worth going to unless you are going to be cleaning it up. You have to ab into the routes as the foot of the cliff is so overgrown and then the routes are loose and overgrown as well. March 2022.

@chudders any details on routes/grades/who did it?

Did "Slippery Crack" on top rope which is fine. Then I tried "Stumpy Arête" which is VERY loose, whole flakes coming off in my hands and needs a good brush to clear the moss! I'll have a go cleaning it up when I get a chance.

Crumbly and dirty, dangerous.

great to see this little crag added but please note all routes been done about 30+ years ago . sorry

Climbed 'Chapel Slide' (agree with V0 grade) and 'Bishop's Finger' (would give that Diff). Good potential on Scout Crag, happy to help clean it up if anyone else fancies it

Except "Slippery Crack" all climbs are new so any feedback on grades is much appreciated, also if you're climbing here early 2015 take care when leading as the rock hasn't settled from having the trees ripped out in February
