Crag features

This sector of the Arico gorge was bolted in December 2014 and is bolted specifically for beginners; with the most difficult route at the time being 6b+. Routes are currently in great condition, well bolted, with accurate (realistic) grading. Certain climbing lines have intentionally been left unbolted in order to offer a few trad-climbing cracks, perfect again for beginners. Most of these routes have bolted anchors.

The ocassional loose rock could be found, but generally the rock quality is great. Most routes require a full 60m rope with a couple of longer climbs requiring a 70m although there were intermediate lower-off rings.

Approach notes

Park in Calle La Degollada (28.182541, -16.487086) respecting the neighbours. If the road is full, keep driving up to find a large layby, and make sure not to block any access, There has been issues in the past with climbers disturbing the locals.

Once parked, access the little street between houses at the end of Calle Degollada. As soon as you enter the street, take the first right and walk down to the end of that street past all the houses and crops until the street becomes a small dirt path. Follow it along to the bottom of the ravine and then turn left to enter Tamadaya.

If you turn right at the bottom of the ravine you'll find another crag (Tamdaya Lower), which is not listed here, and it's full of very easy grades (3-5), with three routes of grade 6 towards the end.
