Salut mon pop (7a) at Le Carol © Chris Craggs

Crag features

A pleasant limestone crag on the crest of a wooded ridge, with a fine collection of hard routes and enough easier and middle-grade offerings to make at least one visit worthwhile for most teams. The climbing is easy to access, mostly on vertical faces and up steep finger-cracks, but the style is generally very fierce.

The crag faces due south and is a decent year-round venue. As it is a ridge, it is fast-drying, and gets plenty of winter sun, with shade provided by the trees in the summer.

Approach notes

From Foix, take the D1 towards Lavelanet. After around 15km, take a left towards the hameau (hamlet) of Garrigue. The road winds steeply up through the village and shortly after leaving the buildings take a sharp turn to the left, a right fork here runs towards some large agricultural buildings. The gravel track then leads to parking for about 4 cars on a right-hand bend after around 250m (this is for Roc des Abeilles). Follow the bend round and drive for another 500m or so to another parking spot by the antenna at the end of the track. Park here and scramble up the rocky southeast corner of the parking area. Head along a short ridge and down to the start of the climbing.
