Crag features

A handy spot for a couple of hours soloing or bouldering if you happen to be in the Carnac area on a family holiday.

The first area is easily approached from Plage de Penthieve. Low tide is essential. The Fort is used by the French military and the rocks below are used by fisherman. There's a good family beach nearby, on the East coast, Plage des Sables Blancs with toilets and parking.

The first area has a slabby wall seamed with grooves and capped by the wall of the Fort. This provides a number of straightforward solos.

Zawn Profondement is just to the right and the steep Left Wall (when dry) provides two atmospheric routes above the narrow and sandy bed of the zawn. Full details of two routes here are recorded below for posterity. There is further potential. The height of the beach beneath the Zawn will probably vary and this may affect the starts of the routes.

Right Hand Crag
This area lies beneath the south west corner of the fort. Approach at low tide along the slippery boulder beach and pass through a narrow square-cut channel to reach the crag; about 10 minutes from the Left Hand Crag. Alternatively an approach may be made from the south across Plage du Chateau Rouge. There are some worthwhile boulder problems here.
