The little crag you always look over at but never stop for - well we did this time and it's superb! © petegunn
10m high obvious little wall to the south of "The Struggle". Cracks and crimps.
This is a mini crag that has seen action for many years but due to its size (maximum. height 10m.) was felt unworthy of formal recording.
After revisiting during a damp F&RCC meet we both felt it deserved greater recognition as it provides a handful of fine little lines. The rock is superb, the situation sunny and idyllic making it well-worth a short visit before grabbing a pint at the Kirkstone Inn.
The routes were traditionally soloed due to the perceived good landings; however all lines can be protected so a rope is recommended.
There are several new bolts to belay from plus two old Troll belay bolts (along with various pegs) be warned these are at least 30 years old.
Park in the layby on a hairpin bend on The Struggle walk back down the road to the footpath and up to the crag.
The crag figures in the F&R booklet "New Climbs 2018". £5 well spent. Rog Wilko - 14/Jul/19 |
