Crag features

The crags at Morata de Jalón are considered to be the number one venue in the province of Zaragoza. There are about 300 routes in the area spread across a number of different Sectors. It is a perfect place for beginners since most routes are in the lower-mid range grades.

Approach notes

The main parking is the one on the west side of the river accessed from the village of Chodes. There Is a sign off the road through the village, and a good dirt track leads to the parking in around 5 minutes - go all the way across the railway to the parking by the 'food truck' next to the river. This parking is marked on Google maps. There's a bridge across the river so you can get tk all the climbing sectors from here

The alternative parking on the other side of the river, shown as P1 in the Roca Espana guide and accessed from Morata de Jalon, now has 'no parking' on all the signs. It's also a much longer and rougher track - the only reason for using this approach would be if you want to climb on the Pena Reloj sectors, which are a bit uphill from the river - there are pulloffs on the track by the crag before you get to the prohibited parking area.
