Crag features

A large rambling cliff that has a small number of good climbs on its best sections of rock. The big orange wall and cave on its southern face were popular areas back in the 1990s, but were banned and de-bolted after the bad behaviour of the climbers - the place has been neglected since then. More recently, the eastern walls away from the banned section have had routes added and are well worth a visit for the fantastic views alone. There are now two sectors with a reasonable number of mid-grade routes, plus a pleasant multi-pitch easy route that takes you to the summit of the formation.

The crag gets the sun from early morning to mid-afternoon, so is useful for those seeking shade later in the day. It is exposed and quick-drying, but cannot be climbed or in the rain.

** Lots of new routes added in the last few years (2022) awaiting updated tops and grades - so check you are on the right route before heading up! **

Approach notes

From El Chorro follow the road to Valle de Abdalajis for 2.9km. At a large stone with a letterbox on it and a sign for 'Sendero Sierra de Huma', turn left up a track. After 0.9km, park on the right (this is the same parking place as for Rocabella). Walk up towards Rocabella but before reaching the crag, head rightwards below it and pick up a small path that leads through woods. Follow the path that eventually starts to climb up to a col from where the face of Coral East can easily be seen. Walk down to below the face.

Restricted Access

No climbing from 1 March to 30 September due to nesting birds. Additionally, the cliff is on private land and the landowner owns the property directly below it next to the road. Please follow the approach described and do not try to approach the crag directly from the road below. Any climbing on the large orange crag next to Corral East is banned.
