Nearest ice climbing to Bogota. Easy trail with crampons and axe up to the rim of the volcano. Was very smelly. Lots of very solid ice for miles and miles to practise on. If you have been living in Bogota then acclimatisation is not a real problem here.
You can drive up to the glacier. There used to be an hotel at the edge of this, but it disappeared in the eruption of 1984. Apparently you need a guide to climb on it these days, but I suspect you need to know people. Contact climbing organisations in Bogota to sort it.
