Crag features

Tregardock Beach totally disappears at high tide, at low tide it is one of the most picturesque beaches on the north coast and also one of the least visited.

There are numerous outcrops stretching the length of the beach, the quality of the rock is suspect to say the least. That said there are numerous outcrops located SW along the beach which provide a number of short and reasonably solid routes.

Tregardock is home of the only mountain in Cornwall and its north face is yet to be conquered. The mountain is a large knoll with a quarried north face wall. The rock is steep and loose with little in the way of protection.

Approach notes

From Delabole take the B3314 towards Port Isaac.

After leaving Delabole you will pass through the hamlet of Westdowns, take the next right towards Treligga following this unclassified road for a few miles. Take the next left, at the end of this road is a farm. Parking can be found on the roadside.

Care must be taken not to block the road or gateways as it is used constantly by residents and large agricultural tractors towing trailers (you have been warned!). It can become very busy along this lane as the beach is popular with surfers and families.

Alternative parking can be found at the top of the road.
