Árainn island has vast exspanses of hard carboniferous limestone, with the cliffs on its western side providing adventurous climbing in a stunning setting.
The cliffs offer long exposed multi-pitch to short single pitch routes, the highest cliffs are about 80 metres high. Big overhangs and steep sheer walls abound.
The mormal approach is made by ferry from either Doolin or Galway though it is also possible to fly there. Wild camping is discouraged but there is a basic campsite on the island.
