Crag features
This area on the top of Mottarone has more than 100 climbs in a beautiful site overlooking the Maggiore Lake and with a panoramic view on Monte Rosa. You can find walls from 20 to 400 meters! Most of the climbs are slabs, but there are also plenty of cracks and overhangs to satisfy your arms!
Too hot in summer, it is fantastic in spring and fall. In winter it is good too, but only in sunny days and without snow.
The sector Balena Bassa is very roomy and quiet, so it is good also for family and children. Restaurant and all services are next to the parking on the top of Mottarone.
Approach notes
On the top of Mottarone there is a car park. All the sectors are very fast to approach.
For Sass Buticc zone (where you found sectors: Balena bassa, Balena alta, Pera Aquila, Cascata, La Stella, Sella, Gufo, Corvo, Strapiombi) you have to walk back the street, a little after you've passed the restaurant, take a right dirt path that going down gently will take you in ten minutes to Balena Bassa and the others.
