A good stop off crag between northern and Southern Spain, or when you have done everything at nearby Cuenca. Rock is similar to Cuenca with loads of pockets and edges. Climbing in the sun or shade and a good mix of grades.
The area is at edge of the Urbanizacion Nueva Sierra, a privatised tract of land which is gated. However the climbing area itself is not on private land and can easily be reached from Almonacid de Zorita on a good tarmac road. At the far side of town follow signs to La Emita. Straight on at the Emita and then follow the Avenida del Playa down steeply to the port (nautico) and beach (playa). At the triangle just before reaching them take the road right in the direction of the Ubanizacion.
Two ways to walk in. Either park by the tennis courts just before the gate to the Ubanizacion and walk into the gorge. However, bear in mind there has been friction with the Ubanizacion who want (unsuccessfully) to ban climbing due to bad behaviour of a few climbers. Alternatively, park by a left turn in a dip not far from the triangle and take a path down a ravine which isn't too obvious to start with but turns into a good path with metal rungs in places.
restricted due to nesting, check EscaladaSostenible.org for updates
