Crag features

The main crag is much steeper and feels much higher than it looks from the road.
A crag with attitude.
Gets all the sun and any breeze going. Dries quickly and needless to say the views across and down the loch are particularly fine.  The lower offs are made from basic hardware chain and should be treated with caution - Some have stainless maillons added for lowering off but others are rapidly deteoriating alloy snapgates.

Ranochan West is the crag in the trees west across the gully/stream

Approach notes

About half way down Loch Eilt behind the cottage of Ranochan, named on the OS map as such.
Room for a couple of cars just before the stream/bridge by the old ruins/sheep fanks etc. just before the track that passes the house. Assumes you are driving from the Fort.
Walk up the path left of the fence surrounding the house grounds, then go right to the crag.

For ranochan west park in the next lay-by (after ranochan house) and walk in directly to the crag.

No Access Issues

Came here after being rained off the Ben and it saved our day. The crag dries incredibly quickly and is far better up close than it looks from the road.
