This is a high elevation crag located in a quiet alpine environment. It's high elevation and northerly aspect make it a very good venue for summer cragging. A good place to tune into the east-side sierra granite and acclimatize. Rock quality is mostly very good but is more similar to the granite found on the longer alpine routes than on The Gong Show crag down the road.
The majority of routes involve mostly crack climbing and are predominantly gear protected. Some routes have a few bolts when natural gear is not available and a handful of routes are fully bolt protected but this is not a sport-climbing venue.
Access is via the Hilton Lakes / Davis Lakes trailhead on Rock Creek Road. Take the Tom's place exit from Hwy 395 and head west. Follow the main trail into the woods for about 3/4 mile. A cairn (easily missed) marks the climbers use trail. Follow this up hill until the cliffs are visibile. Loose talus hopping leads to the routes.
