Crag features

Wissenfluh is a triangular shaped crag of limestone rising above the trees in an area of alpine pasture land above Thun. The crag catches a lot of sun and has a fantastic outlook onto Thunersee and the Peaks of the Bernese Oberland. The base of the crag reasonably comfortable (not too steep) and is shaded nicely by the forest.

The rock is a generally very good quality limestone with the odd loose block and features a lot of positive holds and water worn features. There are approx 100 routes from 5a upwards, with the majority of routes being in the 6's. The routes to either side of the crag tend to be single pitches, with 2/3-pitch routes in the centre.

Moderator 15/07/2021: the climbs list dates from 2012,  more harder lines (at least) exist.

Approach notes

To access Wissenfluh, take the toll road (10CHF machine on the left, coins or Twint) from the centre of Ruttigen (next to the Bank) up the hillside. The road is quite steep gravel with several switchbacks, and paved in the upper part. After Lengenberg farm park at the 3rd switchback, there is plenty of space on the inside of the bend to park, for about 6 cars. Do not park near the water trough (so that the cows can reach it).

The crag is 15-20 minutes walk away on a clear trail leaving the road next to the water trough.
