The cliffs around the quaint chapel of Saint Photis were some of the first areas on the island to be developed but, with the possible exception of the sunny Monastery crag, fell out of favour for many years. A more recent wave of development has raised the profile of the area once again, and a number of hard routes and a few easier offerings have been added. A few of the older climbs have also been rebolted. The area is picturesque and the approach very pleasant, and it is worth a visit to get a look at another quiet corner of Kalymnos.
From the main road in Panormos, head towards Kantouni Beach where parking is available. From here, follow the track on the left past a church and out towards the first headland. Descend into a valley below the airport and out to a second headland - round this to where the chapel comes into view. All the cliffs are reached from this path - first Austrians (10 minutes), then Monastery round to the left (30 minutes) and then The Chapel and Cave area (35 minutes) at the end on the main track.
