Mount Vallibierna's subsummit (Pyrenees, province of Huesca, Spain) © Carlos Penalva

Crag features

Twin summitted peak SE of Aneto, reached easily from the Vallibierna. Briefly knife edged arete between the summits (called the "Paso del Caballo", because most people ride it like a horse!). Easiest ascent by going round to the SW, scree and easy scrambling. The ridge that curls round NW from the E Peak over the Tuqueta de Muidors is good, and in winter so is the North Couloir. The latter needs cold conditions as the North Face is pretty loose. Most of the hill is limestone but the Tuqueta de Muidors is granite.

Approach notes

Arrive at the village of Benasque (province of Huesca, Spain). Then take the only road northwards for about 5 km to the Senarta parking area (free but noisy camping, dodgy water). Then about 9 km up to the Coronas free hut 1950 m. Daily buses from Benasque up to the Coronas hut in summer.

No Access Issues

Camping in National Park allowed only between 8pm & 8am.
