Crag features

Since its founding in 2001, the Lac Long climbing area has been developed by volunteer climbers like you. Each one of our acts contributes to the beauty of the site. In 2008, a united initiative by climbers, outdoor organizations and the Municipality of St-Alban made possible the purchase of the land, ensuring its conservation and permanent public access for rock climbing. This year there will be big changes. The dam will be rebuilt and the municipality will make improvements with the goal of transforming the sector into a natural park. Access may be complicated or limited at times. You can find out for sure by contacting Nature Portneuf (418) 284-4232. Your patience and understanding are appreciated. Happy climbing!

No Access Issues

Take highway 40 to the 254 exit (St-Marc-des-Carrières, route 363) and head north. When you reach Saint-Marc-des-Carrières, cross the town entirely, turn right on rue Bourque (just before the high school) then turn left on rue Principale to continue North. At the stop sign, cross route 354 and continue straight towards Saint-Alban. When you cross the Sainte-Anne River you will see a large dam on your right. You are passing by the Sainte-Anne Gorges climbing area, it’s on your left. Cross the town of St-Alban and continue some 4 kilometers until you each a strong curve right, here you will need to turn left onto a dirt road that heads north. Follow this road 2 kilometers to a T intersection, where you turn right. This marks the start of the chemin du lac Long. After 7 kilometers, you will reach the first (and biggest) parking lot. Please park as close as possible to the entrance, as the long parking spaces further on are reserved for the cars with trailers belonging to chalet owners. It’s important to note that the chemin du lac Long is a private road that is maintained by our contributions and by the work of volunteers. Respect the access conditions at all times. During most of the summer and especially on weekends, a contribution of $5.00 per auto is requested for parking.
