The Old Bridge is located on the outskirts of Aviemore, next to the pub that shares its name. The walls of the underpass are partially perma-dry and offer crimpy traverses and eliminates. Arguably the best training venue in the area, which doesn't say a lot for the others!
Excellent fingerbusting fun!!! About a 2 minute walk from Aviemore Scottish Youth Hostel. Did not know this climbing was here until I was staying in the hostel for a short break. I thought the Lamp Post Wall Traverse was easier but did not manage to do it clean, if I return to Aviemore I will try this again.
I was told it has been used by climbers for many years and railway staff put grease on holds many years ago to stop folk climbing incase someone got hurt but the grease is long gone and friction is great. Beware fast passing cycle riders and expect some funny looks and also good fun comments from passers by. :o) Denpov - 27/Jul/13 |

Hah! Found this by accident when my pal said "Hey look there's chalk on the walls" No climbing shoes - socks would have have to do?! The crimping is fantastic, some sloping holds, some sidepulls, and always reasonable feet. A boy pulled up on his bike and stopped and stared at the sight. Will probably go back! kwoods - 29/Jul/12 |
