The Marlborough to Chisledon Cycle path takes the route of an old railway line, and has four bridges just outside Malborough offering bouldering and climbing opportunities.
The Northern Bridge on a minor road, the Central Bridge with a long traversing wall, the Southern Bridge over the river kennet, and Fourth Bridge over Elcot Lane.
The Central Bridge, under the Marlborough to Ramsbury Road has walls of quarried hard sandstone blocks. Both the East and West faces have fierce 20m long, crimpy traverses.
The Southern bridge directly over the river Kennet. Highball! All corners soloed, aretes top roped. Care with top and iron bars just above the river.
The Fourth Bridge over Elcot Lane is less intimidating and has traverses and corners.
From Marlbourgh head east towards Mildenhall (on the Ramsbury Road)and very quickly, at the bottom of the hill out of Malborough is a minor road to the left. Take this, in 200m there is the Northern Bridge with parking space. Access the Marlborough to Chiseldon cycle route here and head south 400m to the Central Bridge:- the main traversing wall. The Southern Bridge is some 800m south of this, and the Fourth Bridge some 50m south again over Elcot Lane, a small blacktop road.
