Bouldering in the evening light at Apremont © Sean Bell

Crag features

This is one of the largest areas in Fontainebleau, close to the pretty village of Barbizon.

It is made up of many areas:

(IF YOU ADD A MISSING CLIMB, PLEASE REFER TO THE AREA IT IS PART OF BASED ON BLEAU.INFO - SOME CLIMBS ARE LISTED IN DIFFERENT AREAS IN CERTAIN BOOKS - IT IS ALSO USEFUL TO ADD A LINK TO THE BLEAU.INFO PAGE OF THE CLIMB IN THE DESCRIPTION TO HELP CHECK NEW ADDITIONS - THANKS)

Apremont Buvette
Apremont Butte aux Dames
Apremont Bizons (Enfants, Nord/Bois, Sud/Cote)
Envers d'Apremont (Dormir, El Paso)
Gorges d'Apremont (Ouest, Centre, Chaos, Est, Solitude)
Apremont Sully
Apremont Portes du Desert
Apremont Mare aux Biches
Apremont Desert (Pilier, Point de Vue, Sanglier)
Apremont Butte aux Peintres
Apremont Brulis

Many of these areas overlap and some are still under development and see regular new ascents. Refer to bleau.info for information, topos (particularly areas under development - Mare aux Biches for ex) and specific coordinates.

Approach notes

Most areas are accessed by parking along the "Allees de vaches", that stretches out from the Mairie of Barbizon in the town centre.

No Access Issues

The road leading south/east from Bas Bréau crossroads is blocked off (2009) which makes for longer walk-in's to some areas. There is plenty of parking available at Bas Bréau though.
