The historic Castle of El Morro on the opposite side of Havana harbour, is the weekend climbing hangout for locals. If you want to climb by the sea with a great view of Havana, then check out this unique crag for an afternoon after exploring the city. The lead routes have rusty bolts, but there are good toprope anchors (bring long slings).
Also watchout for broken glass fixed onto walls to discourage climbing, espicially towards the sea side. It would be a good idea to check for bolts all the way to the top before attempting a climb as some bolts have been removed and its not recommended to take a long fall on interim bolts.
From Havana city centre, its easier to get a taxi to the castle, which costs less than 10 CUC one way. You can arrange the taxi for a pickup later.
