Climbs 4
Rocktype Grit (quarried)
If you have climbed everything at Stubbins and feel like a pleasant walk and some slightly more trad-feel bouldering, it is worth checking out the Chatterton Quarry, next to the River Irwell (os.SD 794188), only a couple of minutes away.
The quarry itself is far more scenic than Stubbins and is covered in bluebells during the summer. There are three excellent looking problems/routes, all above rather dodgy landings in the boulder-filled river below.

(From Stubbins) return to the railway bridge, drive under and turn left immediately after crossing a river bridge. Stay left when the road splits and park next to the recreation field. Follow the river path rightwards into a field full of horses. A footpath leads into the quarry in the trees to the right of the main path.
