Crag features

The attractive band of natural limestone overlooking the Great Orme tramline has some worthwhile routes. Catching all day sun, with easy acess and well bolted routes, Tramstation makes a perfect evening, or winter sport climbing crag. There is also a reasonable amount of bouldering available at the crag. Mainly in the f6a to f7a range. Worthy of a visit if in the area.

This is an environmentally sensitive site - please make every effort to keep the local residents happy - muffle power screams with your face mask etc, and avoid removing/damaging any vegetation that is not on the existing climbs. Any damage to the large ivy trees will almost certainly result in a loss of access to the crag.

The climbing has been developed in five areas, making the most of the best rock. The areas that have not been developed are banned due to loose rock and the proximity of the footpath and houses below.

The crag is currently undergoing re-development. Treat all old fixed gear with caution.

Approach notes

Parking is in a residential area, and on a well used bus route. Please park sensitively.

Head through Llandudno towards the pier and Marine Drive: turn left into Church Walks road at small roundabout 100m before the Grand Hotel and the pier (where you'd turn right for Marine Drive), then take the first right up the narrow Ty-Gwyn Road (to the Orme summit) just before the Empire Hotel. Follow Ty-Gwyn Road uphill around a left-hand hairpin and past a set of traffic lights (the tram-line) and turn left onto Ty'n y Coed Road https://goo.gl/maps/krZJ3eK2wq1Q4bzQA Park sensitively here. Cross the tram-lines to where a path leads across the hillside below the crag. NB In the winter when the tram is not running, it is possible to park on the tram tracks.

No Access Issues

Sensitive access. The crag is very near to and in full view of local houses, please act respectfully to avoid access issues. The path below is often used by local dog walkers.
