Craig Y Fan, on the south slope of Bryn Y Fan just north of Llanidloes, is a small, slabby outcrop.
This crag (and others in the area) are featured in the new Central Wales - Elenydd guide book which contains access notes and other information.
See guidebook for detailed access/approach information and map.
Please use the BMC Regional Access Database (BMC RAD App) for the latest access information as the above approach comment takes you through private land, which is forbidden for the moment. danpbates1985 - 27/Jul/20 |

A nice little beginners crag with great views, but an adventurous access path. Start by parking in the car park at the base of Bryn Y Fan next to the Bwlch Y Gle Dam and follow the dirt track down to the base of Bryn Y Fan where you will go through a gate and reach a sign post. Here turn right and follow the path to skirt around the edge of the hill following the river. Do this until you see the face of Craig Y Fan to your left halfway up the hill. From here turn left and head towards a gate at the top of a field next to a large tree. From here follow the path as best as you can to the base of the crag. The approach itself took us around 40 minutes, but I recommend not to go here in the wet as the approach will be difficult! danpbates1985 - 22/Jul/20 |
