Crag features

Harcles Hill Quarry is a gritstone quarry that is comprised of two areas: the larger of of the two, has some worthwhile routes - Please beaware though that the rock can be crumbly at the top.

The second, smaller quarry, certainly gives some entertaining bouldering.

Approach notes

The easiest approach to these two quarries is to firstly get yourself to the Shoulder of Mutton pub, Ramsbottom. Directly opposite this pub is a track that becomes a bridleway. Follow this until you find a bench that overlooks Ramsbottom. Take a left turn after this bench and follow the gravel path. You should see the quarry emerge infront of you. This walk should take you around 10 minutes.

Some reasonable, clean, bouldering in the main quarry. I've added problems from Lancashire Bouldering and a few easy ones not listed. This makes a satisfactory "quick hit" for a bit of easyish movement, with Lord Foul's Bane, Bastille Traverse and Traverser la Rue (small quarry) for some more technical challenges (all clean). Top outs in small quarry didn't look appealing though. Can be combined with the short natural Holcome boulders for an interesting low grade outing (and some higher grade offerings for those more gifted than myself)
