A series of 4 or 5 short c15 to 20 foot conglomerate sandstone outcrops with a range of problems ranging from easy to hard. The Buckstone offers limited bouldering in a commanding position approximately 200m further along the path.
Follow the footpath up to Staunton Meend with the dry stone wall on your right. After approximately 150-200m cross the wall at one of the collapsed sections and scout about. The outcrops are along the contour directly below the wall. I believe that the land may be Forestry Commission owned but would not appear to have any access problems as long as people are considerate.
The Buckstone offers limited bouldering in a commanding position approximately 200m further along the path and with full public access.
Update 2023: it would appear the collapsed sections of the wall have now been rebuilt. Suggest approaching from the downhill side of the crag using the forestry track.
Tried a visit today. Shame ALFs photos don’t describe the routes found on each bit of rock. Ander - 24/Jun/18 |
