This summit is listed in Grahams, Scottish County Tops hill lists.

This summit has been climbed in 14 logbooks.

Hill features

The highest hill in Caithness, an elegant and shapely mountain. Steep heather and scree prevail on all sides so it's a slog, although interest can be added to an ascent by a scramble (grade 1) up the NE ribs. The tor to the south of the summit also posseses some bouldering potential on interesting conglomerate sandstone.

Approach notes

Park just before the bridge at Braemore (ND 073 304), follow track as far as the Corrichoich bothy (bothy is closed), from which point the best (least boggy) ground follows the river for about 0.5km, then it's a case of hitting the heather and approaching the mountain directly. The NE ribs are clearly visible from this point.
