Chris Craggs on Décollage retardé (5) - a typical route at Dreuilhe © Sherri Davy

Crag features

A disused railway cutting is an odd venue but the crag offers a decent selection of easy and well-bolted routes in a very accessible setting.

The crag faces west and gets the afternoon sun. The wind can funnel through the cutting, so it can be cooler here than you might be expecting.

Approach notes

Turn right into Dreuilhe from the D625 and follow the road as it weaves through the village, eventually crossing the disused railway line. Park opposite a long industrial-type building after crossing the old railway line. Walk northwards along the railway track (right when looking from the industrial building) for 550m to the crag.

To be fair the Rockfax guide doesn't talk up this crag, but it is uninspiring and really isn't worth travelling far for. The starts of several of the routes are much harder than the given grades and would defeat most 4+ climbers, but I suppose you could aid the first couple of moves. Olla, at the right hand side, is OK, being much more sustained at its grade.
