Crag features

An appropriately named crag, with a sea of pockets but also a library of other holds, rock types and interesting styles of climbing. A suitable crag for first timers, those climbing in the harder grade regions and everyone in between.

Set back from the familiar sounds of busy roads and near deafening bus horns, one of the quickest crags to get to provides a quiet and remote feeling despite barely leaving the town.

Bamboo provides much appreciated shade at the base of the cliff, especially from late morning to early afternoon. It's advised to climb here before midday or from late afternoon till dark as even on the most modest of climbs can feel considerably harder in the sun.

Approach notes

From the centre of Yangshuo, head briefly East on Pantao Road before verging onto Kangzhan Road and South as if going to the major tourist destinations like Butterfly Spring, Banyan Tree and Moon Hill. Continue down this road until a roundabout or crossroad (sometimes a worrying mix of both) is reached and continue South.

Now on the G321, stay South bound until you pass through a huge Chinese gateway, then pass a small set of buildings on your right and finally come to a larger set of buildings and a small built up area, again on your right which is where you leave the main road.

Continue on this small but well paved road through the small cluster of buildings and up a small hill until a large body of water is reached on your left. Stay on the road for a short distance, past some houses on your right before the valley opens out where the crag should be visible in the distance.

A lone building on the right provides parking facilities for bikes and other vehicles at very reasonable rates and an approach from the East, though it is possible to continue through the small village and park off the road directly South of the crag and continue of foot from there.
