Crag features
A wee crag of good quality igneous rock, probably basalt, in the lovely Carron Glen. Being metres from the river and surrounded by mature woodland adds to the aesthetic appeal but also unfortunately adds to the midge quotient in the summer. The top metre provides entertaining top outs over vertical vegetation. Carron Glen is a Scottish Wildlife Trust reserve and is well used by locals, walkers, anglers etc. so if you climb here please do so sensitively. A minor crag but if you're local it's worth a look for a change from the usual venues.
Approach notes
Leave the M80 at junction 1 then follow the A833 into Denny. Turn R at the traffic lights then continue to a R turn onto the B818 to Fankerton. As soon as you leave Fankerton there's a wee car park space on the R, park here to gain the Carronglen footpath. Cross the footbridge then turn L and after 10-15 minutes the crag is on the R, a few metres from the path.
No Access Issues
