Barra Head Games E3 © Grahame N

Crag features

Also refered to as Barra Head, this is the most southerly point of the Outer Hebrides. Covered in verdant grass, the island has a different character from the other Boshop Isles. It rises gently from sea-level along its north coast to gain its highest point along its south coast, where all the current batch of climbs can be found.

There are a couple of stunning walls that arw among the best in the archipelago. Creag na Beiste, at nearly 200m offers the highest single cliff of perfect quality rock of all the islands, whilst The Giant's Pipes is probably the most unique cliff in all of Scotland.

Approach notes

There is no natural shelter from storms and if caught out refuge could be taken in the area around the lighthouse. Bring sufficient fresh water for any stay on the island.
