Rocktype Sandstone (soft)
Altitude 136m a.s.l

Crag features

The quarry on the south side of the hill is largely sandstone but with dolerite intrusions. These are of geological interest but the climbing is loose, vegetated and not recommended. Please see user comment below. Climbing no longer allowed here.

Approach notes

Short walk from the car park at Killynether.

Scrabo Tower quarries (North and South) have been designated as areas of Special Scientific Interest. Due to this, and the amount of rockfalls, climbing is expressly forbidden at both. This has been confirmed by the Scrabo Tower Warden 12/02/2014.
