A 100m long crag of 8-15m high cliffs of solid rock bound the lagoon beside the waterfall. There is potential here for a lot of DWS. A low level traverse was completed all the way from the campsite to the waterfall on good rock just above the water. Much of the water is deep, a couple of jumps were taken from quite high, but the water is very dark and so difficult to see the true depth.
On the FA of Tino rangatiratanga, a band of extremly loose and dangerous logs and vegetation was passed near the start of the traverse; if this was to fall whilst passing, the consequences would likely be severe. However, the area has seen significant floods since the FA, so the danger may now have passed.
Access from Haruru Falls motel/campsite if you're a resident (the owner is very friendly and helpful and it's a good if basic campsite), or from the falls themselves.
