Crag features
Sandstone bouldering in the woods. The best bouldering in the Herault, with hundreds of problems. The topo can be bought online from http://lodevebloc.blogspot.com/ for 3 euros. The area also features in 'Bloc France'; the guide to sandstone other than Font!
Problems are arranged according to 'Bloc France' with sector Rousseau including 'Accueil'; Petite Barre including 'Empire de milieu' and Bar du fond including 'Prosopopus' (essentially the boulders below are linked to the edge above). There are MANY more problems than appear in the guide - often un-named and un graded. Problems ungraded and described as 'for children' I have graded as '2'. It's a nightmare....😂 Andy S 12/3/23.
Approach notes
From Lodéve take the D153 towards Soument. Keeping on the D153 at two junctions head for Saint Privat. Park on the left just by a large concrete electricity pylon.
The edges/boulders are on the other side of the road a few minutes walk down the hill. You arrive at the top of Sector Ruisseau. Walking left aloong tjhe top of the escarpment you passover the top of Grande Barre to reach a path slanting down below Petite Barre
