βeta: The current SMC guidebook description of the first pitch of WSD is hard to follow. The original description in the Simpson guide (1969) is more precise: "Follow a crack in a V shaped groove for 15ft, then climb a slab on the left past three thin ledges. Traverse left, then continue straight up to the top of the depression to cross the ordinary route at the Horizontal Ledge". We continued straight up to the top of the V shaped groove, stepped right and then went up a steep crack on the right side of a pale coloured wall which felt like 4c.

βeta: The spike belay at the top of P1 appears to be no more, you have to do the steep continuation crack in P2 and belay off above that, forcing a traverse start for P2.
