Please refrain from climbing outside

Due to the ongoing spread of Covid-19, please abstain from climbing outside.

At UKC we are all climbers and we understand the strong urge to be outdoors as the weather is finally improving, but we feel this is no longer socially acceptable. You can read our statement here.

We have suspended the UKC Logbooks Top Ascents and Conditions pages and we will no longer accept ascents dated from 23rd March onwards. You can still upload your historic ascents.

PeelDoor 18 Nov, 2018 Solo β Nifty wee climb. Got into a bit of trouble on the first section. Wet Moss on the initial slabs made finding a good foothold difficult. If, like me, you’ve never scrambled higher than grade II, then you should probably rope up for this section. My partner however had no issues. The rock became dry and sustained for the next 3/4’s is of the climb. High grade 2, but short enough it won’t fry your brain (under an hour to the top).

timparkin 18 Oct, 2018 2nd O/S Decided to stay left and enjoy a bit harder climbing. Probably a few diff moves and in the wet they were definitely interesting. The approach was as hard as the climb though, heather and bracken bashing through steep loose rock and then the first moves at the left of the start were more than a little wet, overgrown and hairy. Overall though it was quite enjoyable. Staying on as much rock as possible gave enough handholds and foot placements to keep things going.

timparkin 18 Oct, 2018 2nd O/S Rather fab little climb. The bottom was very wet and slimy in the left corner so we roped up. Ben lead up this section and as we had the rope on by then, we took the hardest line up the hill. Nothing majorly difficult although a bit vegetated (we saw a few heather wigs flying down whilst Ben looked for placements). It was a major distraction having such an epic view of the Buachaille behind us while belaying. Over too soon!

rentaghost 27 Apr, 2018 2nd Although not steep quite serious & sustained, with a lack of really reassuring holds for a grade 2 scramble. Rather heathery slippery start then clean rock.
