Rockfax Description
Sustained and difficult climbing that takes a fairly direct line to gain the tip of Low Man. Start at a small protruding buttress 10m left of the edge of Deep Gill.
1) 26m. Climb walls past grassy ledges to belay on the highest grassy ledge below a blank wall.
2) 4c,10m. Climb a small rib on the left (bold) to gear in a small corner on the left. Continue to a belay in a niche - 'First Nest'.
3) 4b, 20m. Move right to a corner, then head around its rib along a break to slabby ground that is climbed to Moss Ledge.
4) 4a, 12m. Herford's Slab. Climb the slab above the ledge, first left and then right, to gain a ledge and Hopkinson's Cairn.
5) 4c, 27m. Climb up a groove just right of an arete (above Deep Gill) past a small overhang to a ledge on the right (possible belay). Move right and up 'The Bad Corner' to a ledge and belay.
6) 4a, 20m. Jones' Arete. Starting on the left, boldly climb the arete which gradually eases. Gain the top via a crack. © Rockfax
