The Via Ferrata of Giorrè plateau is a there and back traverse of three cliffs via two ledges. The ledges are wide in places, but elsewhere almost disappears - the cables protect these points. The whole trip is 2500 metres with 600 metres of cable.

The online guide recommends being careful at all points and the use of a back up rope in the case of wet weather or inexperienced party members. It also warns against underestimating the route due to the low altitude and proximity to the town - some of it is quite physical and feels exposed. There are several well signposted escape routes. There is phone signal all along the route.

The route is rated “difficult” because of the first cliff. To avoid this follow the signs to the trail to pick up the higher ledge of the first cliff and retrace this at the end (this is the normal finish). The normal route runs: cliff 1 lower; a walk up to the higher ledge; cliff 2 upper; cliff 3 upper ; walk down and around to the lower edge; cliff 3 lower; cliff 2 lower; cliff 1 upper.

The whole cliff faces north, so in the spring-summer it is mostly in the shade.

Cargeghe town paid for all of the material – everything feels top quality.
