A fire in 2019 has altered the approach. From the road by the piled rubble (841 721) you can go straight up to the higher RH one of two gates (deep bracken in summer), go into the very scorched forest, then fork right to contour round the top of the valley below the cliffs. The scramble is on the almost detached buttress on the left end. In high summer avoid the bracken by going right along the piled rubble, then up left over a small hummock to reach a boggy path which traverses left to the gate.
