Misha 24 Jul 2nd O/S Horrendous but strangely enjoyable, probably because I was on the blunt end. Two slimy pitches to the jammed boulder, both not really safe. The jammed boulder caving was sort of fun and surprisingly dry. Between the four of us we managed to explore all three exits - sacks off for all of them! Winnie the Pooh moments avoided, thankfully. Dryish but tricky rock rib pitch above, then another squeeze pitch! This gets to in situ tat. Two more pitches above that. Waist belay and a thread at the top. Phil got us up it in about an hour and a half. Lou and Tim followed. This wasn’t the worst scramble of the day as we went on to do Bilberry Terrace on Lliwedd. To descend, rope assisted downclimb off the waist belay and thread to the top bunch of tat, then ab off the thread (leave tat) or preferably get short roped down. Then stacked abseil (tat needs replacing) to the large platform at the top of the jammed boulder. Then lower off blocks to the bottom and ab off in situ tat (or stacked abseil but looks awkward to arrange).

emlynroberts 29 Jun, 2018 Solo Scary, should have taken a rope. Went to far right approaching the Boulder, couldn't get back right due to slimy holds and had to climb right around the Boulder. Rhys learnt from my mistake and went direct. It's been really dry recently but was still slimy. Next step was difficult but less serious. Final step looked scary from below, I didn't fancy it at all, Rhys went first and did it with ease, I found it ok once I committed to the moves, the squeeze was a bit tight for my uncared for frame! You would not want to consider falling off that move.

Astilath 29 Jun, 2018 Solo Pretty epic. First step up to the boulder was the worst for me just because of slimy steps. Holds aren't as positive as youd like but they keep coming. Can't imagine soloing it in anything but perfect conditions. Continued up north ridge, traversed crib goch and dropped down into cwm glas mawr.

tk4210 18 Oct, 2015 2nd dnf Scrambled to the base of the block before the slime. The tracy led off but went out right and it was very slimy. She did great and got to the base of the cave. I came up didn't fancy that way sand stayed in closer to the wall on the left which was still bad. From the base Trace climbed up through the whole. I got up there but couldn't get through it. Tried a few times but had to down climb and then we had to ab off from the tat by the base of the cave. Good experience

col3 23 Jul, 2011 Solo rpt Did Alpine style, this time not covered in ice! A bit slimey, fun awkward wriggling. Now I've made it on to the full Jammed Boulder Gully-Clogwyn y Person/Ddysgl arete expedition won't be doing this a third time! Worth doing once, bottomless cave and chimney are real fun! (Expect to rope up)

Paul1 29 Jan, 2011 Lead The gully from before the chimney was covered in Ice so avoded the clinmey by taking the right wall, laking in protection everything i placed fell out as i had left my small nuts in the hut, ("Light is right" my arse)asaped to the left of the top of the chiney to grassy skramble.

col3 29 Jan, 2011 2nd O/S Very icy, book said 'often covered in green slime' and 'damp' so we should have taken the hint! Most of holds covered in ice which made it tricky but we made it. Squeeze through hole was tight even for me! First grade 3 scramble, pitched most of it due to ice.

geoff b 5 Aug, 2003 Solo I can't believe I'm still alive: this was one of the scariest solo's I've ever done (including some E4s at Avon) & I was only trying to get down. The abseil descent is scary enough.
