1000m. Beyond the left end of the seracs and just before a steeper slope leading to the Silverhorn Col, head straight up underneath the top of the Silverhorn route (beware crevasses), then traverse right on a rising snow ramp. Take care here, as the ramp has become considerably steeper over the years (about 35 degrees) and is exposed to avalanches and potential falls over the seracs below. From the top of the ramp, head up more open slopes to an often windblown saddle. Follow the usually handpicked and sometimes snow-free West Ridge easily to the top of the Silverhorn route and continue on the nearly level ridge to the summit.

This has been replaced as the most common route to the summit by the AA Col route in recent years due to conditions.
